My name is Ariel Fefer.
In August 2006, when I was seventeen years old, my mother, Myriam Fefer, was murdered inside our family home in Lima, Peru. The man who carried out the killing was later identified and imprisoned, but the person who ordered the murder has never been brought to justice.
Following her death, I studied journalism in Lima for two years and wrote a fiction novel that was published when I was 21. In my early twenties, I moved to Denver, Colorado, to rebuild my life away from the tragedy and public attention.
In Denver, I founded and ran a successful personal training business from 2014 to 2025. During that period, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition – Dietetics from Metropolitan State University of Denver, graduating with the highest honors in May 2021.
In April 2025, after being struck by a car, I decided to change the direction of my life and return to my first passion — journalism — now strengthened by fluency in English.
Today, I live in Florida with my husband. We share our home with our cat, Momo, and our dog, Kid.
This podcast is my way of finally coming home to the story I never finished. It is my deeply personal journey back to the morning that shattered my world — a search for the truth about who took my mother from me, and why. After nearly twenty years, I am ready to speak from the heart about family, secrets, power, and the justice that has remained out of reach.
